No. Files uploaded to HugMyPDF for processing (OCR, Chat with PDF, Summarize, Remove Background) are used solely to complete the requested operation. They are never used for AI training, analytics, or any secondary purpose.

What Happens With Server-Processed Files

For all server-based tools (PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML to PDF, URL to PDF, Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF, Merge Word/Excel Files, OCR, Chat with PDF, Summarize PDF, Remove Background): your file is transmitted to HugMyPDF’s secure server, the requested operation runs, the result is returned to your browser, and the file is deleted after processing is complete. This entire cycle completes in seconds.

The technical details:

Transmission: all uploads and downloads use HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Your file is encrypted in transit.
Processing: files are processed in an isolated environment. Each processing job is independent — files from different users are never combined or accessible to each other.
Deletion: files are deleted from our servers after the operation completes. We do not keep copies, backups, or logs of file content.
Storage duration: zero long-term storage. If a processing job fails and you don’t download the result, the file is still deleted promptly.
AI training: your files are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model. They are used solely to complete the operation you requested.
Third-party sharing: we do not share, sell, or transfer your files to any third party. Server infrastructure is hosted on DigitalOcean (US datacenter).

Free tools: we collect anonymous usage analytics — which tools are used, approximate session length, country (not city), browser type. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any file contents from free users. Analytics are used to improve the product.

Pro subscribers: we store your email address, subscription status, and transaction ID (for billing via Stripe). We do not store payment card details — Stripe handles all payment processing. Your email is used only for account management and service communications.

We use standard web analytics (page views, session counts) with IP anonymisation enabled. We do not use advertising trackers, Facebook Pixel, or Google remarketing tags.
